Unique rail system
Most stairlifts run on a rail around 8 cm across. The Modul-Air Smart runs on 6 cm. On a Singapore staircase where width is already tight, that difference is what keeps the stairs usable on foot for everyone else in the house.
Otolift's engineers designed the rail as a series of modules that fit together. That is how it can be adjusted quickly to almost any staircase — including mounting on the inside of a curve if you prefer.
The oblique coupling between modules means the chair moves up and down in one continuous motion rather than stepping through each joint.
Otolift load-tested the modular rail to 8,000 kg. Thin is not the same as flimsy.

Reverse drive technology
On a tight turn, a conventional stairlift swings the user’s knees towards the wall or the bannister. The Modul-Air Smart can drive partially — or completely — in reverse through that section instead.
It sounds like a small thing. On a narrow staircase with a half landing, it is the difference between a comfortable ride and one where you brace yourself at the same corner every time.
Standard, not optional
These are not upgrades sold at the quotation stage. Every Modul-Air Smart arrives with them, and every unit is certified to EN 81-40 — the European safety standard for stairlifts.
At the top the seat rotates automatically towards the landing, so you step off onto flat floor rather than over the edge of a step.
The footrest folds up and down on its own. Nobody has to bend down to the bottom of the stairs to move it.
A live status display built into the armrest. Battery level and the condition of the lift are readable at a glance, without an app or a manual.
Two 12V 7Ah batteries keep the lift running during a power failure, so it can always bring the user back down.
The lift stops automatically when it detects something in its path — gentle, immediate, and tested at every service.
The belt is designed to be fastened and released with one hand — which matters if the other one is holding a stick or a cup of tea.
Space at the bottom
The most common objection we hear is that a rail will block the hallway or the doorway at the foot of the stairs. Otolift has two answers to that, and we work out which one suits your home at the assessment.
The rail stops short at the bottom, leaving the passage or door completely free.
The rail hangs on the first step rather than continuing to the floor, so it takes up even less space.
Seat, footrest and armrests fold flat against the rail, so the staircase stays easy to walk up on foot.

Using it
After installation our technician walks through all of it with you, calmly and in as much detail as you want.
Step 1
Bring the chair to you with the wireless remote control.
Step 2
Sit down on the seat and fasten the belt one-handed.
Step 3
The chair moves silently and smoothly up the rail.
Step 4
It continues to the top and stops automatically.
Step 5
The seat turns to the landing. Release the belt.
Step 6
Step off safely onto the flat floor.

Straight staircases
A single unbroken run from bottom to top is the simplest configuration and the most affordable. The same 6 cm rail, the same standard features — just fewer modules.
The rail can stop short of the doorway at the foot of the stairs.
Wide side or narrow side, whichever keeps your doors and windows usable.
The common Singapore straight-flight layout is a straightforward fit.
Curved & spiral staircases
This is where the modular rail earns its reputation. Wide, narrow or spiral, the modules follow the curve rather than forcing the staircase to accommodate a bulkier twin rail.
We record the exact geometry of your staircase before anything is configured.
The chair can reverse through the corner so your knees stay clear of the wall and bannister.
If you prefer the lift on the inside of the curve, the modules can be arranged for it.
